Transfer Unpaid Insurance Balances
Purpose:
This procedure will transfer all the unpaid insurance balances in the system to the patient based on specific parameters and special transaction codes. Before using this procedure, special transfer codes must be defined in the transaction code dictionary for “TB” ( Transfer to Patient - unpaid ) and “TP” (Transfer to Patient – partially paid ) – see transaction descriptions below. Note: These are suggested codes – any transfer code ( function 7) or description can be used.
Procedure:
Select #8 from the main menu, then select #16 – “Transfer Unpaid Insurance Balances”

Explanation of fields:
Starting Date: Claims billed ( Entered – Starting Date of Entry ) before this date will be ignored by this program. This is to ensure that we do not transfer claims that have not had sufficient time to be paid by the Insurance Company.
Suggested that this time period be no shorter that 30 days.
Ending Date: Claims billed ( Entered – Ending Date of Entry ) after this date will be ignored by this program. This is to ensure that we do not transfer claims that have are too old to assign to patient responsibility.
Number of Days Billed: This is the counter for the number of days since the last time this claim was billed. If the claim was recently re-billed, then this program will not transfer the claim to the patient.
Number of Times Billed: This is a counter for the number of times the claims was billed. If the claim was never billed, the program will not transfer the claim to the patient unless specially flagged to do so.
