Meaningful Use – Quick Start – Allergy

From the Patient Information Screen Command line type “VS”

( VS stand for Vital Signs EMR template )

Record the 3 core measures

1- Height/Weight = BMI

Give BMI plan if outside parameters ( EHR will prompt for this )

Patient Advice Document ‘Weight.doc’

2- Record Blood Pressure

3- Record Smoking Status

Give Smoking advice document once yearly if current smoker.

4- Record 3 Quality Measures  -  These measures are specialty specific

Asthma measures are given here as a suggested example:

If patient has an asthma diagnosis:

- Record ACT template for asthma assessment

- Record Asthma Therapy Control Med

- Record Pneumonia and Influenza vaccine status

Asthma assessment template – 5 questions with score

5- E_prescbibe all non-schedule Rx drugs

6- Offer patients a printed Clinical Summary with each visit that will print with co-pay receipt or setup patient portal for this purpose.

7- Provide patients with handouts for Patient education.  E.g. Asthma, Smoking,  Weight Loss.

8- Use the Recall System located at the end of the VS template or from the  practice management system.
